Abstract
The importance of phase has been demonstrated in previous research [1], [2] which indicates that an image constructed from only the phase of the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) of the original image is typically very intelligible. This correspondence presents a coding algorithm which codes phase and magnitude separately, and emphasizes the phase coding. Good results have been obtained with 1 bit/pixel.
