Abstract :
A CO2laser is described which may be actively stabilized in any of four different R/P line pairs in the 10.4 μ band. The laser may be caused to rapidly switch between line pairs. The degree of frequency stability achieved is \\sim1:10^{10} , 5 Hz and above, and \\sim1:10^{8} , 0-5 Hz. The laser may be switched through the four line pairs in ∼100 ms.
