Abstract
Video services sharing an ATM network can be made either synchronous to each other at video frame level or asynchronous. Frame synchronised video results in larger cell loss than asynchronous video, especially for head-and-shoulders pictures. Use of 20-30 ATM cell size buffers with maximum delays of 55-82 μs are sufficient enough to bridge the gap, without causing significant cell delay variations for both methods
