Abstract
In the above-mentioned paper it was incorrectly stated that a statistical estimator was consistent. The lack of the consistency property does not, however, diminish the utility of the estimator in a decision scheme. Simulation results are given which indicate that the variance of the proposed estimator is smaller than that derived from a nearest neighbor estimator. This may partially account for the observed improvement in performance afforded by the proposed method.
