Abstract :
The effects of coefficient quantization on the frequency response of FIR filters realized in direct form are analyzed in [1]. Applying such results to optimal low-pass filters, simple formulas are derived to predict, starting from the specifications on the frequency response, the filter order and the quantization step size which minimize the bit-multiplier product.
