  • Abstract
    This article provides a profile of Geoff Glover, the HR manager of Ford at Southampton. Realizing the importance of workers in realizing the company´s business objectives, Glover spearheaded the efforts to heavily invest in training their team in the core competencies that underpin ´lean´ through the Ford Production System and have put a lot of emphasis on the creation of a ´psychological´ contract with employees as a means of driving forward its business objectives. At Ford Southampton, they have realized that excellence is much more than just having the skills of such concepts as lean, TPM and TQM. It is about how people are encouraged and motivated to use these tools to deliver business success.
