Abstract :
Measurement of the intensity fluctuations of an index-guided CW (GaAl)As diode laser are reported. The narrowing of the laser emission spectrum causes a sharp decrease of the low-frequency noise associated with the lasing mode. This observation agrees well with a theoretical relationship derived from the multimode rate equations.
