Abstract :
We present a method for estimating the change in the hard sphere collision cross section for a polyatomic associated with vibrational excitation. The final result is only related to spectroscopic and virial coefficient data. The ability to theoretically estimate this cross section change is vital to the theoretical modeling of light-induced drift separation schemes in polyatomic mixtures.
