Abstract :
Quality management tends to evoke one of two reactions: a big yawn, or an impassioned defence of some narrow position held with unwarranted doggedness. But it is too important an issue for either of these responses to be adequate. The author discusses the analysis of a SEPSU report dealing with the standards-based approach to quality systems, total quality management and systematic quality management approaches. The importance of ISO 9000 and the best approach to its successful implementation are briefly discussed.<>
