Abstract :
In a recent paper, a time-domain method for the measurement of the parameters of a loudspeaker driver was described. Here we extend the technique to the more interesting problem of measuring the parameters of a vented-box louspeaker system. We use the pencil-of-functions technique, and show that all the parameters of the electrical analog can be determined straightforwardly from a single time-domain test. A computer simulation example demonstrating the simplicity of the two-step approach, namely, identification of the impedance function by the pencil-of-functions method and therefrom the computation of the physical parameters, is given in the paper. Also, the method is applied to laboratory test data obtained from a vented-box loudspeaker system; results obtained appear to check with known design parameters.
