Abstract :
Version 3.0 of the cable television industry´s data transport standard, Data over Cable Service Interface Specifications (DOCSIS), might speed the time to download anything from a text file to a movie to 160 megabits per second. Even if the technology´s theoretical maximum speed isn´t commercially realistic, its demonstration at the May 2007 annual Cable Show in Las Vegas has network strategists and analysts wondering how users and competitors will react.
