Abstract
Obtaining a smooth continuous function of phase from a distorted, sampled set of phase measurements is addressed. Provided the smooth continuous function can be written as a power series, all the important coefficients can be derived from phase difference measurments which have proved to be less affected by phase noise than the phase measured directly. This simple technique is shown to have advantages in some experimental configurations.
