            Abstract : 
A CW Pr3+-doped fluoride fibre upconversion laser operating at 492 nm with a slope efficiency of more than 13% at room temperature was demonstrated. The laser has a pump threshold of total launched power of ~105 mW and more than 9 mW output was obtained. The results demonstrate the potential for realising a single stripe diode pumped blue laser
