Abstract :
In this letter, a 4 ×4 substrate integrated waveguide (SIW)-fed circularly polarized (CP) antenna array with a broad axial-ratio (AR) bandwidth is designed and fabricated by multilayer printed circuit board (PCB) technology. The antenna array consists of 16 sequentially rotated elliptical cavities fed by slots on the SIW acting as the radiating elements, four 1-to-4 SIW power dividers, and a transition from a coaxial cable to the SIW. The widened AR bandwidth of the antenna array is achieved by using an improved SIW power divider. The antenna prototype was fabricated and measured, and the discrepancies between simulations and measurements are carefully analyzed.
