Abstract
I have the good fortune of being able to practice and enjoy our profession in three dimensions simultaneously. These concurrent activities provide the opportunity to come in contact with many entrepreneurs and with some who want to become entrepreneurs. I teach courses in electronics and electrical engineering at two universities, I work in industry as a consultant to dozens of companies and corporations, and I am active in the IEEE. At the universities, the students ask me to explain to them what they must do to become entrepreneurs. In industry, whether the client is a one-person small business or a large corporation, they want to know the formula to help them to develop into a successful company. In the IEEE, members of all ages ask how to start a business and become successful entrepreneurs. The answers vary a little depending on the age and experience of the person asking the question. However, certain things are true for everyone.
