Abstract :
Two results are derived in connection with the "rustybolt" effect of signal distortion at a circuit element with a nonlinear current-voltage characteristic. A general expression is found for the effect of crossmodulation between two signals and also a formula providing information about the current-voltage characteristic from its harmonic generation properties. This latter result may be used to determine the physical origin of the nonlinearity.
