Abstract
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) will convene a World Administrative Radio Conference (WARC) in 1979 to review and modify, as appropriate, the existing International Radio Regulations. The conference will be attended by delegates from about 150 -nations and will have the authority to modify significantly the existing international Table of Radio Frequency Allocations. The last conference with such a broad charter was convened in 1959, and it is anticipated that the results of the 1979 conference will have a significant operational impact on the interests of all countries through the turn of the century and beyond. This paper reviews some of the major WARC 1979 issues and summarizes the international and US preparatory efforts.
