Abstract :
A simple model for the characteristics of Fabry-Perot type semiconductor laser amplifiers is developed, the model leads to several simple analytic expressions. The theoretical results have been compared with measurements using a 1.3 μm laser as an amplifier. Our results are compared to those of other authors, and we indicate how the model can be used to optimize the amplifier performance.
