Abstract :
The problem of insufficient data for the specification of transfer switches is identified as a problem with regard to available fault current. Typical examples are given to explain the necessity of obtaining additional data, beyond what is traditionally published, in order to specify automatic transfer switch applications safely. A suggestion for a more realistic nomenclature is made
