Abstract :
This paper consists of probabilistic models of life distributions for different types of devices, with examples collected from various fields of engineering. The appropriate choice of the model should be based on the conception of the failure rate function and on the related failure data for a given class of devices. Using this approach may assist engineers in choosing an adequate probabilistic model.
