Abstract
Induction motor squirrel cage rotor winding performance operating range and reliability are influenced by the temperature of these windings and the temperature differences which occur within the windings, and between the windings and other parts of the rotor structure. These temperature responses have formed a basis for protective devices commonly in use to protect the winding from damage. This paper describes an anaytical effort which models the thermal response of the squirrel cage winding. The temperatures calculated using this model are in general agreement with previously published data.
