Summary form onlt given. IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices will be publishing a second section, approximately four times per year, devoted entirely to Vacuum Electron Devices (formerly denoted "Electron Power Tubes"). For this, its inaugural issue, J. Rodney Vaughan, a long time contributor to this art, serves as guest editor. Our hope is that IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices - section II will become a focus for articles now published in many different journals. Dr. Richard True of Litton Industries, whose biography follows, joins Henry Kosmahl as an associate editor for Vacuum Electron Devices. We welcome Dr. True to the editorial board of the IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices.
