Abstract :
A 1.3 μm Raman fibre amplifier pumped by a stable and low-noise CW chromium-doped forsterite laser has been investigated for the first time. A lowest noise figure of 4.3±0.3 dB has been obtained for a forward pumping scheme with a fibre grating returning residual pump into the fibre
