Abstract
A mixture of porphyrins derived from hematoporphyrin and termed HPD (hematoporphyrin derivative) has been useful for localization and therapy of neoplastic disease. The fluorescence and photosensitization of tissues which accumulate an HPD fraction have been examined by many research groups, and the clinical applications of these phenomena are now being explored.
