Abstract :
It is argued that a hole in a thin dielectric sheet can be represented by a current source and a sink on opposite sides of the sheet. Such a configuration is analyzed using a quasistatic assumption for current injection from one side of the sheet. The results have possible relevance to schemes for the detection of leaks in membrane-lined impoundment ponds for hazardous liquid wastes
