Abstract
Exactly how the handedness of an optically active scatterer affects its electromagnetic (EM) response is a question of importance in EM field theory. It has been shown here that the presence of handedness (chirality) in a scatterer does so by modifying the charge and current densities included on its surface when it is being illuminated by an EM field. Field-theoretic arguments found in any standard textbook on classical EM theory have been used to establish this conclusion.
