            Abstract :
Dye laser pulses with a duration of 160-350 ps and a spectral width of 0.06 nm were obtained by pumping a grazing incidence dye laser with a

-switched Nd : YAG laser. The pulse shortening was due to a cavity transient effect which has also been observed in N
2laser-pumped dye lasers.
