Problems encountered by manufacturers of superminicomputers during 1987 are discussed. These include difficulties with their own products as well as competition from new products. An expert opinion is offered by Howard Sachs, vice president and general manager of Intergraph Corp.´s advanced processor division, who describes how microprocessors are competing with middle-range computers.<>
