Abstract
The Green´s function method is used to derive the fundamental mode fields of the anisotropic circularly symmetric step-profile fiber. The method is particularly simple for stress-induced birefringence. It also provides a single analytic expression for the loss of the leaky mode. generalizing the results we previously derived for some special cases using radiation modes [4], [5].
