Abstract :
In 1912, the Swedish engineer Nils Gustaf Dalén was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for his invention of automatic regulators for use in conjunction with gas accumulators for illuminating lighthouses and buoys. The history of his inventiveness and scientific achievements has been unjustly ignored, historically speaking, being closely intertwined with that of AGA, the company that he helped establish, and of which he was president for nearly three decades.
