Abstract :
Requirements of modern markets in electronics are distinguished by dramatically decreasing prices, higher demands for flexibility, shortening times of reaction and growing product complexity. The consequences for production are immense. Only well-prepared processes with high performance and quality are able to ensure a company´s competitiveness. The application of computer aided tools in process planning and their integration with CAD systems and manufacturing equipment improve the efficiency in electronic production. This paper presents a computer aided process planning system that integrates functionality for the entire fabrication and assembly chain of printed circuit boards. This tool enables optimization, simulation, NC programming, and documentation for the following process steps: photo plot, drilling, and insertion. Especially, the modules for the automated generating and simulation of insertion sequences (AGASIS) are extended
