The author gives an overview of the latest trends and developments in computing. In particular the author discusses the prominence of Windows, the challenge by Windows NT on Unix, the replacement of traditional workstations with personal workstations, new flat-panel display technologies to challenge the established ones for future applications, and new storage system technologies
