Abstract :
The detection of elephant flows at routers with partial flow state is vitally important for Internet operation and management. This letter proposes a landmark LRU (L-LRU) cache scheme for the detection of elephant flows. Simulations driven by Internet traces demonstrate that the L-LRU scheme reduces false negative ratio by 6 to 35 times over the original LRU scheme.
