Abstract :
The use of time-selective sampling is presented as a way to significantly reduce the effect of large interferers on the sensitivity of receivers operating in a crowded spectrum. The concept assumes a discrete-time analog front end, where large distorted samples are discarded and small undistorted samples are retained for use in estimating the desired message signals. Since the retained samples are not uniform in time, signal processing is a challenge. The signal processing is described in cases in which 1) the frequencies of the interferers are known and 2) the frequencies are not known.
