Control and operation

The editor summarizes the columns and feature articles to be found in this issue. The theme of the issue is power system operation and control and the five feature articles present a clear picture of many of the problems and challenges that the electric power industry faces. The columns mentioned include The Business Scene which presents two checklists for developing countries, the first identifying key business issues and the second identifying key considerations for selecting a suitable market structure. The History column looks at the technological improvements that were made both for electric powered vehicles as well as those made in the rival alternative gasoline engine powered vehicles. The In My View column reflects on the topic of broadband communication over power lines.
