Abstract :
The calculations were done for a 115 MVA-machine with 10 poles. The discretized calculation area covers one pole-pitch in circumferential direction and contains about 11000 mesh nodes. The results concerning power loss (spatial distribution and mean value) caused by the fundamental wave and space-time dependence of the flux density in the stator core for three different orientations of the rolling direction of the cold-rolled electrical steel laminations used are reported and compared with the results for isotropic laminations. The eddy current losses produced by the higher harmonics of the magnetic field were considered by correction factors.
