Abstract :
We present an efficient method for analyzing the statistical properties of weighted median filters. It is based on a fast algorithm for computing the Hamming distribution of the zero-set of the defining positive Boolean function. We also show that the standard median filter is in a statistical sense optimal among the stack filters defined by self dual positive Boolean functions
