  • Abstract
    A method relating the coupling angles to the waveguide mode angles of the prism-waveguide coupled system which is frequently used for waveguide characterization in integrated optics is described. Allowance is made for the use of anisotropic materials for the waveguide or prism and applications to both planar and stripe waveguides are discussed.
