Abstract :
Micro hollow cathode discharges were simulated by using a particle-in-cell coupled with a Monte Carlo collision model to observe the pendulum electron phenomenon. Energetic electrons generated by secondary electron emissions can overcome the potential barrier and penetrate the opposite sheath region. The discharge formation is not affected by an anode shape because of the self-structured virtual anode.
