  • Abstract
A theoretical model has been developed to analyse the two-dimensional flow field generated by a single electrode pair ion-drag pump. The governing fluid dynamic and electrostatic equations describing ion-drag pumping are solved using the semi-implicit method for pressure linked equations. Results from the model correlate well with available experimental data. The model also shows a significant difference between the electrical efficiency and the system efficiency which is due to the frictional losses not being accounted for in the calculation of the electrical efficiency. The trends of the system efficiency are similar to that observed experimentally
