Abstract :
The electric field tangential to the ground plane generated by an upward-going lightning current is carefully estimated. The analytical essence of this technique leads to closed forms including the short-range case. Hence, using some basic coupling procedures, the near-field interferences on buried equipment have been treated. The investigation is ultimately addressed to insulation design and protection measures, and some unexpected, severe effects, induced in particular in buried cables, are predicted.<>
