Abstract :
A new timing and frequency synchronization algorithm is proposed for fast burst synchronization in wireless local area networks (WLANs), which are based on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). In the proposed method, the preamble in WLANs is modified and a new preamble with a typical structure weighted by the pseudo-noise sequence is designed, with which the accuracy of timing offset estimation is significantly improved and the range of frequency offset estimation is enlarged. Simulations demonstrate the performance of the proposed method.
