Abstract
The use of short millimeter-wave Doppler radars for the observation of clouds and precipitation is discussed. Attenuation and scattering (including Mie backscattering by raindrops) of this short-wavelength radiation by hydrometers is discussed as well as the sensitivity of such radars for the observation of clouds
