Abstract :
Stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) can represent a quite simple technique for generating phase conjugate reflections of XeCl laser radiation. The XeCl laser spectrum exhibits two strong lines at 3079.8 Å, and at 3081.9 Å, which are separated by a spectral width much larger than the bandwidth of the excited acoustic wave of a Brillouin medium. It has been investigated experimentally whether or not the two lines drive SBS independently. By using both lines to pump the Brillouin medium maximum, power reflectivities of 30% have been measured, but the power reflectivity increases up to 40% by using only the 3079.8 Å line
