Abstract :
Measurements have been carried out to investigate the relationship between coupling efficiency and return loss when light is coupled from a laser into a lens-ended optical fibre. To attain the values of return loss necessary for full duplex operation on a high split level (e.g. 32) passive optical network, a change to conventional packaging techniques will be necessary.
