Abstract
A numerical matrix method is developed which permits the analysis of very complicated laser structures. It is applied to different laser structures including asymmetric phase-shifted DFB-lasers both with abrupt and extended phase-shift sections. Results for modal behavior, threshold gain differences and power distribution are presented.
