Abstract :
A frequency acquisition and tracking system for use in optical heterodyne communication systems employing semiconductor lasers is described. Analytical models for acquisition and tracking are used to predict performance; probability of incorrect acquisition is predicted for the acquisition system, and rms error is predicted for the tracker. Experimental data is presented and compared to the analytic results.
