Abstract
Since multiscale decomposition-based image fusion using different levels appears to provide different fusion performance, a novel method of decomposition level selection for out-of-focus image fusion is presented in this letter. This method uses the information related to the energy difference computed from higher band in multiscale decomposition. The proposed method achieves similar fusion results compared with that obtained by actual best decomposition level in different cases.
