Abstract
A new polarization-maintaining single-mode fiber with eccentric core is proposed. The polarization characteristics of optical fibers with eccentric core are calculated by the improved point matching method (IPMM). Numerical results show that the birefringence between two orthogonal HE11 modes is enough to maintain the polarization state.
