Abstract :
Interaction between spontaneous Raman scattering and polarization mode coupling in a polarization-maintaining fiber has been theoretically analyzed. Expressions for the scattered intensity for CW and pulsed excitation are established in terms of practical fiber parameters. Implications of these results to spectroscopy and sensor applications are discussed.
